Mentor Applications will be accepted until May 22nd for ICE 2009.

ICE 2009 Mentor Applications have been sent out- please return them at this time to Evan Bienstock at EMBienstock@mintz.com or fax to (617) 542-2241.

If you have submitted an application our mentoring committee is currently vetting all applicants. Once you are vetted you will be notified via email.
Mentors will be matched mid June to Semi Finalist Teams and able to meet and work with their teams on June 19th at the ICE Bootcamp event.

Mentors please make a note of June 19th 11am-3pm to meet with your teams at Foley Hoag in Waltham. More details to come.

The ICE Competition has an outstanding tradition for attracting world-class mentoring skills, including venture capitalists, CFOs, CEOs, partners in prestigious US law firms, scientists and professors exploring cutting edge research at world-class universities.

Putting talented mentors together with the superb teams and technologies submitted thus far has made for a potent combination.

Qualifications
Experience: 
- I have been on the founding team of one or more startup companies
- I have invested in or made the decision to invest in startup companies
- I have knowledge of the clean energy industry through direct experience working with clean energy technology startup companies as a consultant or as an employee (domain experience)
- I have functional expertise in areas relevant to success in the competition (presentation skills, business plan writing, etc.

Mentor Agreements
Capabilities: 
1. Strong interpersonal, communication and teaching skills.
2. Willingness to meet in person with the team at least once, although most sessions may be held over the telephone if necessary. Teams will be located on the East Coast, between New England and North Carolina, inclusive.
3. Desire to help the Competition and to help the clean energy industry succeed.
4. Willingness to help any company or team with which they are matched succeed by helping them to create a compelling story for raising funds.
5. Ability be selfless and allow others to take credit for their work.
Limits to Mentor/ Team Relationship: 
1. I will not discuss forming any business or financial relationship with a team until after the competition is concluded.
2. I agree not to have, and agree not to assert, any ownership interest or other rights in any business or intellectual property provided by the team or developed in the competition.
3. I agree not to disclose any confidential or proprietary information obtained in the competition to any third party or use such information for the benefit of any third party or for any purpose other than serving as mentor.
4. I agree not to take any action to discourage any person from participating in the competition or to cause any team or team member to discontinue their participation in the competition.
Limits of ICE Competition Liability: 
I agree that in no event will the sponsors or participants in the Competition be liable to any mentor for any liability, damage, claim or cost whatsoever arising out of or in connection with service as a mentor, and each mentor shall release all sponsors and participants from any such liability, damage, claim or cost.
