Mentors play a pivotal role in the competition. Each team will have one or more mentors assigned to them based on interest and skills. Mentors coach their teams on all aspects of the competition including:

* putting together the overall business plan
* crafting the financial plan and forecast
* developing a crisp value proposition
* refining pricing models

Mentors must not do the work themselves, but help the entrepreneurs through the process. They need to commit sufficient time to meet with their teams during the heart of the competition (July thru September). Mentors must also commit to attending a series of workshops with their teams in Aug-Sep.

There are two types of mentors: generalists (who are assigned to only one team) and specialists (who usually have deep expertise in one area, say finance, and are a resource for all the teams).
